Last night about 9pm my handsome companion and I popped into Balsamic in Ringwood hoping that they were open for a late dinner. The location being close and conveniently situated in Eastland shopping centre near Hoyts cinema, my hopes were high! With a mixed bag of reviews on Zomato I was not sure what I was going to experience but took the dive!
When we entered we were greeted by a super friendly floor manager and he said that the kitchen is still open for another half an hour.. Score! He showed us our seats and brought over water and left us with the menu. I looked around and the restaurant was not too busy, it was late though. The atmosphere was calm and it was warm and cozy highlighted by a fireplace and the reds and browns of the decor. After a few minutes of trying to decide what I wanted I decided on having the chilli prawn linguini but replace the linguini with penne and no chilli. My companion chose the beef tortellini.
A young lady took our order and was happy to change the order for me as she said the linguini contains chilli (which i did not want) Within 15 minutes our order came out and it looked amazing! The pasta in my dish was cooked to perfection, the prawns were big and juicy, the chorizo was slightly burnt on the edges giving it a grilled charcoal taste, the onion and tomato was fresh and the lemon segments gave the pasta a nice zesty taste that it did not need a sauce! I tried some of the beef tortellini which had a thick rich sauce with the taste of white wine through it, wild mushrooms and bacon. It was so yummy and hot that even at the end of the dish the pasta was still hot and tasty!
As we were leaving i noticed the cake cabinet and saw a double layer mousse cake, OMG! Even though the kitchen was closed the floor manager was happy to cut me a slice and boy was it a slice! It was so big that i still have some left! It was so rich, fresh and chocolaty that any chocolate lover would be happy.
The only negative about Balsamic was their dirty toilets.. When i went to the bathroom one toilet still had poop in it, another had a wet seat and the one i went into had a toilet holder that was held together by tape!
All in all minus the bathroom, this was a really nice visit. The customer service was so welcoming and friendly and the food was fresh and tasty and has made me want to come back! I give Balsamic a total score of 8/10.
